I lawl’d.

Late in the game to this, but I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend 20 minutes of my day and I think you’ll agree.
ps. Terry Gross’ voice, without fail, calms me like a vocal massage.

Come on down to svpply and vote for my “christmas set”, I’ve been entering a ton of weird contests since re-instituting student status. Not having money or a job makes you do weird things.
My svpply reflects what will surely be a strange holiday in a still pretty new place. It also represents everything I can never afford. UNLESS I WIN!

Minor Inconveniences I've Experienced Abroad that...
As I was preparing to move to England my roommate, Katrina, was preparing to move to Sierra Leone (which apparently is not a commune in Nevada). Having lived in the country before she knew how to prepare for such a move, and compared the resources there to “a general store during the Great Depression.” Despite the glaring differences in our situations I believe there was a similar approach in...

The Art of Getting In
There are certain things that are guaranteed to make me anxious: lines, crowds, and balloon animals. On Tuesday night I found myself waiting in a line that lead to a crowd. This sort of thing would be expected during Fashion Week in Paris, or CoasterFest at Six Flags, but in London it was at an The Whitecube Gallery during Frieze . Frieze is an international contemporary art fair that happens...

ArtAngel
I’ve been pretty good about making it through the million and a half art institutions in London, but Artangel complicates the tourist experience by actively rejecting the solitary art edifice. You can only play coy for so long though, Artangel; I have you in my cross-hairs.
Only previously familiar with their film THE ARBOR, which utilizes actors to perform and reenact true testimonials, I...

Defrosting
I live in London but I dine in China. When I chose to go back to school, I chose to—in my mid-twenties—return to dorm life; the main difference being that now I was classified as an international student and coincidentally put among many other foreign students. The international student label feels like a knock-off when applied to me, as the move from Boston to London didn’t seem as adventurous...

Crying on Goatskin
There were some people in middle and high school who existed solely to make us feel bad about ourselves (you know who you are), but are there objects who serve a similar function? I met possible physical evidence today at Selfridges— the Jonathan Saunders for Symson iPad case. Not only is this beauty worlds beyond my price point, but it is simply a sheath for another item that is out...

A new city, a new blogging adventure, but before we get that underway let’s remember to honor the old blog. Pay your respects by visiting often and not alerting me to the numerous typos.
